Originally from Kansas City, Dr. McGuire joined the Air Force in Medical School; after residency practiced Internal Medicine at Altus AFB, OK from 1994-1996. He was accepted for GI fellowship at Naval Medical Center San Diego, in 1999. He transferred to Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center, San Antonio, TX as faculty in the GI and Internal Medicine training programs. Dr. McGuire achieved Board Certification in Gastroenterology in 1999. Left the Air Force in 2002 and returned to St. Joseph to be near family. Dr. McGuire maintains professional membership in the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
