About Melissa Yamashiro, P.A.-C

Melissa was born and raised in Park City, Utah and earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training at the University of Utah, and then went on to obtain a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies at Loma Linda University.

With her history in Sports Medicine and now almost a decade of experience specializing in Gastroenterology, she has learned the importance of shared decision making in medicine and she prioritizes education in her interaction with patients so that they can help make informed decisions regarding their health so they can find a plan that is compatible with their priorities. She believes in offering evidence-based medicine treatment options and tailoring those options to meet the specific needs of the patient. She realizes that each person has their own story and she takes the time to listen without judgement or bias, and she hopes to be a safe space for people of all backgrounds. As a Board-Certified Physician Associate, she is able to see all patients, order procedures, labs, imaging, interpret testing, and prescribe medications. Melissa works closely with her physician colleagues when needed and believes in a team-based approach with complicated cases.

In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her son and husband. They love spending time outdoors hiking, camping, snowboarding, and traveling.
