Gastroenterologist

About Christopher I. Maxwell, M.D.
“I chose gastroenterology because of the fascinating science and the chance to prevent cancer. I was attracted to a varied practice with time spent in the office, in the endoscopy center and in the hospital, plus the long- and short-term relationships with patients.
“I really enjoy working one-on-one with patients to solve problems, preventing cancer with screening colonoscopy and seeing results, both procedurally and in the clinic. I am understanding, straightforward, detailed and thorough. I like to empower my patients to manage their own conditions by helping them understand their physiology, what can go wrong when they have certain diseases and their treatment options.
“I am extremely thorough, and I provide evidence-based medicine to help patients achieve the best results and a better quality of life.”
In his free time, Dr. Maxwell enjoys mountain-biking, skiing, snowboarding and being a dad.

I do not know enough superlatives to describe my thoughts on my experience with Dr. Maxwell! What a gem of a physician! Every quality a patient could envision: knowledge, warmth, humor, kind and empathic!
I was very anxious about this visit.
Dr. MAXWELL let me "talk".
He listened to my thoughts and feelings about my distress.
Then he gave me a synopsis of his thinking and a concrete plan to move forward.
He gave these explanations with warmth and humor.
The final thing he said to me was a huge gift of compassion.
I told him my youngest daughter and her husband are moving to Crete, Greece and I fear my travel days are over.
At the end of the hour, Dr. Maxwell said, "We are going to get you to the place where you can travel to Greece."
That was an amazingly empathic response.
