“I chose gastroenterology because of the fascinating science and the chance to prevent cancer. I was attracted to a varied practice with time spent in the office, in the endoscopy center and in the hospital, plus the long- and short-term relationships with patients.
“I really enjoy working one-on-one with patients to solve problems, preventing cancer with screening colonoscopy and seeing results, both procedurally and in the clinic. I am understanding, straightforward, detailed and thorough. I like to empower my patients to manage their own conditions by helping them understand their physiology, what can go wrong when they have certain diseases and their treatment options.

In his free time, Dr. Maxwell enjoys mountain-biking, skiing, snowboarding and being a dad.

This Dr is the best GI Dr I’ve ever seen. Patient, knowledgeable, efficient, extremely considerate of his patients. He helps his patients with no ego involved. I really cannot say enough because he’s good at everything. The worst I can say about Dr Maxwell is that he is so good that he’s very busy. It can be a wait to get in but even then if it’s serious they will make arrangements to take care of you.
Dr Maxwell is not just knowledgeable, he listens carefully and communicates clearly. He’s practical and thorough, and I highly recommend him.
This was my first procedure with Dr Maxwell. I found him to be very professional and thorough. He takes the time to explain in detail all aspects of the what's, where's, why's and when's so I knew exactly what to expect and I understood any concerns which put me at ease.

I just had my second colonoscopy as a 26 year old so I was understandably slightly nervous but the team did such a lovely job of putting me right at ease. Well, besides saving my life along with his staff and nurses, Dr. Maxwell is very concerned with your well being, and takes the time to answer all of your questions and researches ones he’s not positive about on the spot. I was very anxious about this visit.

He listened to my thoughts and feelings about my distress.
Then he gave me a synopsis of his thinking and a concrete plan to move forward.
He gave these explanations with warmth and humor.
The final thing he said to me was a huge gift of compassion.
I told him my youngest daughter and her husband are moving to Crete, Greece and I fear my travel days are over.
At the end of the hour, Dr. Maxwell said, "We are going to get you to the place where you can travel to Greece."
That was an amazingly empathic response.
