About Tyson Amundsen, M.D.

Dr. Tyson Amundsen is Board Certified in Gastroenterology. As a general gastroenterologist, he is honored to care for any gastrointestinal issue, but is especially passionate about inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer prevention, and liver disease.

From early on in medical school, Dr. Amundsen was drawn to the digestive system and excelled in the gastroenterology subject matter. Even though he had no prior connection to gastroenterology, he found great satisfaction and meaning in caring for patients with digestive and liver conditions. His most rewarding experiences came when he was seeing patients in clinic, assisting with endoscopic procedures, helping manage GI emergencies in the hospital, or supporting patients through the liver transplant process. It confirmed for him that this is the field he wanted to dedicate his career to.

Dr. Amundsen is a comprehensive gastroenterologist passionate about caring for the full spectrum of digestive health. Dr. Amundsen obtained his Medical Degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix. He then completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine – Scott & White and then went on to the the University of Tennessee Heath Science Center- Gastroenterology & Hepatology for his GI fellowship.

In his free time, he enjoys playing and watching soccer, skiing, reading, and crossword puzzles. More fun and fulfilling than all of these for Dr. Amundsen is spending time with his family!
