About Dr. Sirish Rao, M.D.
Why Gastroenterology?
I chose to specialize in gastroenterology because of my fascination with the intricate workings of the digestive system and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patients' lives. The field offers a unique blend of procedural and clinical medicine, allowing me to perform various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, such as endoscopies and colonoscopies, while also developing a deep understanding of complex gastrointestinal disorders. By practicing gastroenterology, I can actively contribute to the diagnosis and treatment of conditions ranging from irritable bowel syndrome to gastrointestinal cancers, often preventing the progression of diseases through early intervention. This dynamic and evolving specialty enables me to merge my passion for hands-on procedures with a compassionate approach to patient care, ultimately enhancing their overall well-being and quality of life.
What Can Patients Expect?
Patients can expect an exceptional standard of care characterized by professionalism, compassion, and a patient-centered approach. I firmly believe in the power of collaboration, treating each patient as an integral part of their own care team. By fostering open communication and involving patients in their treatment decisions, I strive to create a harmonious partnership that promotes the best possible outcomes and a sense of empowerment on every step of their healthcare journey.

Reviews
I'm new to AZ and had to find a new G.I. doctor. Dr. Rao was very professional and answered all my questions. I feel very reassured and confident with his knowledge and skill set. I'm very pleased to find Dr. Rao.
Dr. Rao is very knowledgeable, concerned, and a good listener. He offered helpful advise and answers to my questions.
Great experience, great staff, felt comfortable at all times. Happy that I chose this crew! During these ‘procedures’ things can be very strange to a person who is not medical staff. When you are wheeled into a quiet clinical room, one can feel uncomfortable and perhaps nervous. This team made me feel completely comfortable and we shared a few laughs talking about “Dexter” (popular show on Showtime about a ‘good’ serial killer!) and shared a few ghost stories! I always feel humor breaks up a normally nervous time as well as creating a personal bond with those that are ‘working’ on you. Glad I chose this crew. I would say I’m looking forward to my next colonoscopy, but that would be weird…. I will not be posting any photos either 😂
Awesome Doctor. Very responsive. Understand the issues, give meds only when needed. Thank you.
Like Dr. Rao, not so crazy about AZ Digestive.
