About Sanaa Arastu, M.D.
Dr. Arastu graduated from New York University where she was both a premed and a mathematics major. Dr. Arastu spent a year after college serving as a volunteer social work assistant in the underserved area of North Philadelphia.
Dr. Arastu received her medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson where she received an MD with a distinction in service to the community. Dr. Arastu continued both her internal medicine and gastroenterology post-graduate training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. While at Thomas Jefferson she completed an advanced pathway for clinical Transplant Hepatology in addition to her traditional gastroenterology training.
Dr. Arastu has presented at national liver conferences and has been published in multiple liver and gastrointestinal journals. Dr. Arastu specializes in the management of liver diseases such as advanced liver failure, abnormal liver function tests, autoimmune hepatitis, primary biliary cholangitis, drug-induced liver disease, and genetic liver disorders. She is also interested in colon cancer screening, management of reflux, abdominal pain, anemia, gastrointestinal bleeding, constipation, nausea, vomiting, bloating, irritable bowel syndrome as well as other general gastrointestinal disorders.
When not working Dr. Arastu enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters. Dr. Arastu’s native language is English, and she also speaks Gujrati, Hindi, and Urdu.
