About Richard M. Sperling, M.D.
Dr. Richard Sperling attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, graduating in 1988. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of California San Diego Medical Center. He was selected for an additional year as Chief Medical Resident from 1991–1992. Dr. Sperling completed his gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco from 1992-1995. He is currently certified in gastroenterology and hepatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Sperling joined Austin Gastroenterology in 1995.

Dr. Sperling has performed two routine procedures for me. He explained everything in advance and provided feedback immediately after the procedures. Equally important is that the scheduling group and surgical center were informative and well organized and made for a smooth experience.
