About Oscar A. Batista, M.D.
“I chose gastroenterology because it is one of the few medical subspecialties that provide the opportunity to treat complex patients as well as perform highly technical procedures, which I find to be personally challenging and rewarding. I enjoy being able to improve the quality of life for patients with debilitating conditions as well as being able to offer minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic alternatives to surgery.
“My approach to patient care is collaborative. I believe it is important to actively engage patients in order to choose the most appropriate treatment plan, while working closely with primary-care physicians, surgeons and other members of the healthcare team to ensure the best care.
“I believe in taking time to listen to patients, then clearly present diagnostic and treatment options based on my medical knowledge and expertise, while respecting the patient’s wishes. My goal is to help patients achieve the best possible outcomes.”
In his free time, Dr. Batista enjoys outdoor activities with his family, which is why he considers Utah such a great place to live. He has been a runner most of his life and has completed eight marathons. He enjoys skiing, kayaking, mountain biking, fly-fishing and scuba diving.

Reviews
Dr. Batista and his staff were extremely kind, patient and personable. He is a very knowledgeable doctor and took the time to explain everything very thoroughly and answer every question I had. I have been stressing about my health issues and it was quite comforting to finally find some answers.
Dr. Batista too the time to explain everything and answer any questions that I had. He didn't proceed with anything until I was comfortable.
I don't know how many people can say they enjoyed their gastroenterologist, but I enjoyed seeing Dr. Batista. He was always friendly and kind, and I have been doing well with my U C under his care. I will always remember that he noticed when I lost weight and complimented me on my hard work. I was impressed that he remembered me, not just my chart.
Dr. Batista and his staff have always been kind and professional. The doctor spends time explaining and listening at every visit. Thank You Dr. Batista and staff!
I have seen Dr. Batista since 2007. He has always been professional, knowledgeable and caring. He put me at ease about a procedure I was nervous to have completed - and he was right...it was no big deal at all. He is a skilled physician that cares about quality and integrity in medicine. I would trust him with the care of any of my loved ones.
