About Kenneth Yang, M.D.

Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?

Out of the different subspecialties in Internal Medicine, I wanted to pursue a future in Gastroenterology because it combined direct patient care with the technical challenges of endoscopy. The variety of cases and people that I get to treat in a clinic setting is satisfying and continues to keep the field fresh, so that I have a desire to continue learning.

Do you have a specialty of interest within GI?

My main focus is general Gastroenterology including colon cancer prevention and GERD. I place a priority in providing quality care and an overall good patient experience.

Where did you study?

Undergrad: University of Texas at Austin, Medical School, Internship, Residency, Fellowship: University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

What certifications do you hold?

Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?

In my spare time, I like to spend time with my family, run, cycle, and try different restaurants in the DFW metroplex. As a family, we love to be active and travel. One of my highlights every year is skiing.

Do you have any special honors or recognition in your medical career that you would like to share?

My chief residency during Internal Medicine training at UT Southwestern was a special honor which allowed me to work very closely with some amazing physicians who served as excellent mentors. I was able to present key research regarding improvements in colonoscopy at the national meeting during my last year of Gastroenterology fellowship.

Do you speak any other languages?

Taiwanese.

Please list your professional affiliations.

The American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, The Texas Society for Gastroenterology and Endoscopy, Texas Medical Association, and Tarrant County Medical Society.
