Jason Martin, M.D.
Gastroenterologist

About Jason Martin, M.D.
Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?
I have always loved the topic of gastroenterology because it covers such a large number of organs and types of disease. I get to help people with issues with their colon, stomach, small bowel, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas. But more than that, I have the privilege of making a positive impact in the lives of others. I have the opportunity to prevent colon cancer, treat liver disease, and help people with symptoms that can be socially debilitating.
Do you have a specialty of interest within GI?
I am interested in colon cancer screening, GERD, inflammatory bowel disease, esophageal motility disorders, diarrheal disorders including microscopic colitis, celiac and non-celiac sprue, and irritable bowel syndrome. I also see patients for their general hepatology issues including hepatitis C, hepatitis B, and fatty liver disease.
Where did you study?
Undergraduate: Carleton College, Northfield, MN
Medical School: University of Texas Southwestern, Dallas, TX
Internal Medicine: University of Texas Southwestern Dallas, TX

My wife and I spend much of our free time in the park with our children. We also enjoy gardening and cooking.
Do you have any special honors or recognitions in your medical career that you would like to share?
During residency I was named House Officer of Excellence. During fellowship I was given the annual award for professionalism. I have published articles in several national journals on topics including diagnostic markers for cirrhosis of the liver, fertility in inflammatory bowel disease, and analyzing factors to increase rates of colon cancer screening for underserved populations.

View LocationRequest AppointmentThe scheduling process for TDCC is atrocious. In June of 2025 I have called 3 times to try and get an appointment. Each time my call has been routed to a “call center” for appointments. No big deal except each call is 20 minutes of very intrusive medical questions. Again, standard and no big deal UNLESS they do it each time I call. On my 3rd attempt at booking an appointment I’m back at the “call center” and they begin with the information updating (again). They have to do the medical information verification (again). I asked for a Supervisor or a transfer to the actual office. I got to an office person and they didn’t’ have any of the very private and personal medical information I had already shared -TWICE! Where did all my information go? Why can’t the office see it? I’m disappointed and a bit concerned that my protected health information is stored on some random server overseas????? I really like Dr Martinez as a doctor - his bedside manner is top notch. But my time is as valuable as his, and my PHI is valuable and should be safeguarded. I will move on and away from Texas Digestive Disease Consultants - their attempt at efficiency is impersonal and way too time consuming for me.
