About Gabriel Rendon, M.D.
Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?
I chose gastroenterology as a specialty because I find the liver, pancreas and intestinal tract fascinating. Gastroenterology still utilizes the “art of medicine,” yet relies heavily on science and evidence-based medicine. I find endoscopic procedures to be a very rewarding experience. It is the perfect mix of office time and procedure time.
Do you have a specialty of interest within GI?
My main interests are colon cancer screening and prevention, GERD, pancreas and biliary disorders and inflammatory bowel disease.
Where did you study?
Undergrad: Texas A&M University, Medical School: from University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Residency: Brigham & Women’s Hospital of Harvard Medical School and Fellowship: Baylor College of Medicine.
What certifications do you hold?
Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. I am a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology.
What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy outdoor activities such as camping, fishing and boating. My son and I play golf on weekends and we enjoy Aggie games as well.
Do you have any special honors or recognitions in your medical career that you would like to share?
I graduated Alpha Omega Alpha from my medical school, the highest honor. I have been chosen as a “Best Doctor” by D magazine multiple times.
Do you fluently speak any other languages in addition to English?
Spanish

Reviews
Doctor Rendon was very professional and explained in detail any questions I had for him. His staff was very pleasant and helpful in the process of all the necessary paperwork.
Wonderful and understanding physician. He takes time to listen, make suggestions and guide you on your decisions.
I have been a patient since 2018! He first saw me when I was experiencing a gall bladder attack! He immediately referred me for MRI and by the next day I was scheduled for surgery! Very competent, great listener and addresses the issue! Just referred me last year 2021 to have a surgeon help me with gall stones since I had special needs! Great follow thru and now my husband is also a patient for normal digestive check ups! I highly recommend him!!
Doctor Rendon was outstanding. Very caring and a wonderful doctor.
Always a pleasure seeing Dr. Rendon. He is very thorough and knowledgeable. The office staff is very accommodating, professional!
