Farid Abushama, M.D.

Dr. Farid Abushamat joined Digestive Health Associates in August 2025. In addition to being a board-certified gastroenterologist, Dr. Abushamat specializes in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He prides himself on being a patient-first caregiver.

Dr. Abushamat puts that mindset into action every day by providing care to patients at GI Alliance’s Digestive Health Associates in Houston, TX and Katy, TX.

Dr. Abushamat earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine, completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of California San Diego and his GI fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. 

He is an active member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American College of Gastroenterology.

Dr. Abushamat is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and is fluent in both English and Arabic.
