About Eric Newton, M.D.
Dr. Eric Newton is a Board Certified gastroenterologist who treats all GI issues, but he spends most of his time working with patients with liver problems.
Dr. Newton enjoys the challenge of dealing with the wide variety of conditions that he encounters in gastroenterology. He loves working with his patients to tackle these complex problems. Dr. Pensa also enjoys doing endoscopic procedures including endoscopies and colonoscopies and helping prevent GI cancers from occurring. Patients can expect a kind, thoughtful approach tailored to the individual patient based on current best practices/guidelines and evidence-based literature.
Dr. Newton received his medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine. He then went on to complete his Medical Residency at Brown University/Rhode Island Hospitals and Health Services. Dr. Newton completed his medical Fellowship at the University of Connecticut Health Center.
In his free time, Dr. Newton enjoys spending time with his family, playing tennis, hiking, biking and boating.

Dr newton is amazing he has been with me since I was a teenager I’m now 32 and he helped me get my liver transplant so I can still live and fight another day to be here with my husband and daughter. It’s been a year since my transplant this picture was shortly after I got out the hospital. I am so grateful for him!!!!
Very good once I got to see him. Took over a year of telephone tag with his office to schedule a colonoscopy. Have been trying to schedule an endoscopy for 3 months and they just won't answer phones. Next time i am in Providence, I am going to his office in person. HIs office office rates zero stars.
