About David Pryor Jones, D.O.

A former Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army, Dr. Jones proudly served in Iraq in 2008 as Chief of Medical Services and Acting Deputy Commander of Clinical Services. From 2005-2010, Dr. Jones served as Chief of Gastroenterology at Brooke Army Medical Center, one of the largest gastroenterology fellowship training centers in the country. His commitment to ensuring the highest quality training of GI physicians as well as fostering patient-centered education is evident by his continued service at the national level on the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Training Committee.

At an early age, Dr. Jones was faced with a decision: pursue a career in music or study medicine. Despite his love for playing the piano and guitar, he found his life’s calling as a gastroenterologist. Dr. Jones is passionate about quality health care and through his role on the American College of Gastroenterology’s Patient Care Committee, empowers his patients to become active participants in their own healthcare decisions. Dr. Jones is married and has 3 wonderful children. He enjoys participating in his children’s sporting events and continues to play the piano and guitar.

I was uncertain of what to expect for the procedure I had to have. I received a phone call from the Doctor's office to set up the appointment and go over what to expect. They also called me twice before my appointment to make sure I didn't have any questions. Everyone was very nice the day of my appointment and put me at ease right away. Dr. Jones saw me after the procedure to let me know the results and make sure I was ok to go home. I would highly recommend them to family and friends.

I started having colonoscopies about every six months at the age of 19, and Dr. Jones has been great every step of the way. He accomodates your preferences for choice of prep, explains the process to you (not that this is necessary in my situation anymore), makes funny jokes and small talk before giving you the best nap of your life, and explains the results to you once you wake up (most likely with an apple juice juicebox) in a very down-to-earth understandable way––no medical jargon here. Dr. Jones is really my only choice for colonoscopies; enough so that, even though I no longer live in Texas, I still fly back to have him do my procedure (although, this is also because I don't believe there needs to be another name on the list of people who have been in the––unfortunate––position of giving me a colonscopy, especially so often).

Wonderful staff and amazing facility! Dr. Jones listened to all of my concerns and worries with patience and empathy. He made me feel at ease and I knew immediately that I had finally found a doctor who was going to help me. After a lifetime of gastrointestinal issues, I am fully confident that Dr. Jones and his amazing team will help me get better. Thank you!!!

Always a quick In-and -out when I have a colonoscopy here. Dr. Jones is great and updates me immediately after I wake up.

This was my first colonoscopy ever; with Dr. Jones. It was smooth.
