About Darren Spearman, M.D.
Dr. Darren Spearman joins Gastroenterology Consultants of San Antonio after 20 years of service in the United States Army. He is a cum laude graduate of Clemson University where he received a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences. After completing his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, he completed his internship and residency at Brooke Army Medical Center and a gastroenterology fellowship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
While in the Army, Dr. Spearman served as an Environmental Science Officer at the Army Public Health Command which ignited his passion for preventive medicine and his love of science. In addition to his interest in overall digestive health, Dr Spearman has a special interest in colon cancer screening and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). During his time at Brooke Army Medical Center, he served as Primary Investigator for several IBD medication trials.
Although serving as a gastroenterologist in the US Army was both a privilege and an honor for Dr. Spearman, he looks forward to the opportunity to establish long term commitments and relationships with his patients at GCSA. Dr. Spearman is a married father of three young children and while not seeing patients, he enjoys spending time with his family, scuba diving, running and cheering for his favorite college football team – the Clemson Tigers.
Dr. Spearman is board certified in gastroenterology and is accepting new patients at our Northeast office.
“I’m passionate about making a difference in someone’s life, which has a different meaning for every patient I meet. One day may afford an opportunity to remove a pre-cancerous polyp in one patient, while a chance to simply listen and offer advice or reassurance may be therapeutic for another patient.”

Reviews
Outstanding experience from the start until the finish...Highly skilled
I cannot say that having a colonoscopy is fun, but I can say my experience from the beginning to the end with Dr. Spearman and his office was incredible! The whole entire staff is great and very professional. Please get your colon checked! RTR Dr. Spearman!!
I have been seeing Dr. Spearman for 6 years, During that time, he has performed 2 colonoscopies. There have been no problems with either (and I'm not talkng about the results, clinically). I'm talking about the procedure, itself. This last procedure was over before I even knew it began. I didn't even realize when the anesthesia began and I awoke, not even knowing the procedure had been done and was over.
He is a wonderful and amazing doctor!!!!!!!!!!!
been going here since 2015 (4x). this place was new when I needed my first procedure. it's clean. it doesn't look like the Medical Center area. all ran down. staff is great. spent more time waiting in the lobby that what the procedure took. Dr. Spearman and my previous Dr. Dr Piesman are great. overall experience is NULL AND VOID. I was asleep. so I really can't say much about that.
