I am a dedicated gastroenterologist with expertise in a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions, specializing in the treatment of reflux/regurgitation, colon cancer screening, fatty liver disease, and cirrhosis. As a native Spanish speaker, I am passionate about providing extensive education and support to the Hispanic community, fostering a culturally sensitive approach to healthcare.

Why Gastroenterology?

A transformative experience during my third year of medical school profoundly influenced my decision to pursue a career as a gastroenterologist. As I observed my GI attending physician navigate the complexities of various gastrointestinal conditions, a particular incident stood out: the life-saving moment of a patient's bleeding ulcer through endoscopic therapy. Witnessing the immediate impact of such interventions fueled my passion for gastroenterology. Moreover, my hand-eye coordination skills found a fitting application in gastroenterology, where there was a delicate balance between clinical patient interactions and performing endoscopic procedures. Gastroenterology provides a unique balance, allowing me to take care of clinic patients while performing simple and advanced endoscopic procedures. This dual aspect of the specialty, combining patient care with procedural expertise, resonated with my skills and aspirations, reinforcing my commitment to a career in Gastroenterology.

What are your interests outside of Patient Care?

• Running - I ran the Houston Chevron 1/2 Marathon in 2023 and will be running again in 2024; my goal is to complete a full Marathon in 2025

• I spend time with my Wife and two children (currently a boy at 12 months and a boy at 26 months)
