About Cecelia Zhang, M.D.

Dr. Cece Zhang is a board-certified gastroenterologist with a special focus on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and colon cancer screening. She is particularly interested in IBD due to its rapid advancements in the field. Dr. Zhang appreciates the opportunity to offer a range of services to her patients, including preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures.

Dr. Zhang completed her undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College prior to attending medical school at Case Western Reserve University. She went on to complete her Internal Medicine residency and Gastroenterology fellowship at Duke University Hospital.

Dr. Zhang received many distinguished awards for her clinical and teaching contributions, most notably, her membership of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society (2012) and earning the Appleseed Teaching Award (2014), Killenberg Teaching Award (2023), and the Department of Medicine Excellence in Education Award (2023). She was selected to participate in the ASGE LEAD program in 2021 and the Duke Clinical Leadership Program in 2024 where she was the co-recipient of the Gorrie Clinical Leadership Impact Award.

Before joining Austin Gastroenterology, Dr. Zhang spent over five years on faculty at Duke University Health System, where she was the Director of Medical Student Education for Gastroenterology and served as the Medical Director of Duke Health North Durham, a multispecialty clinic. Additionally, she has actively participated and led several committees focused on enhancing medical education and improving clinical operations.

As medical conditions and treatments grow more complex, Dr. Zhang emphasizes the importance of collaborating with her patients to develop personalized care management plans. In her spare time, Dr. Zhang enjoys hiking, traveling, and exercising.
