About Brent W. Lacey, M.D.

Dr. Brent Lacey is a board-certified gastroenterologist with Texas Digestive Disease Consultants in Southlake, TX. He performs routine GI procedures such as upper endoscopy and colonoscopy to treat Crohn’s Disease, ulcerative colitis, liver diseases, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, heartburn, and other GI symptoms. After college, he felt God calling him to a career in the military, and he served for 15 years in the U.S. Navy. As a native Texan, he is grateful to be home in Texas to have the opportunity to care for people in his community. He is a gifted teacher, and he sees his interactions with patients as opportunities to teach them about their GI conditions so they are better equipped to handle them.

Education

Undergraduate: Texas A&M University

Medical School: University of Texas School of Medicine – San Antonio

Residency: Naval Medical Center San Diego

Fellowship: Naval Medical Center San Diego

Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?

The most important thing in my medical career is relationships. I enjoy establishing long-term relationships with my patients and their families, and gastroenterology offers a lot of opportunities for that. Additionally, I enjoy doing procedures because it gives me a chance to offer more significant benefits to my patients. When I was completing my internal medicine residency training, I had a lot of options to consider for my future career. Ultimately, I felt God calling me to a career in gastroenterology, and it has been incredibly rewarding.

Do you have a specialty of interest in Gastroenterology?

My favorite aspect of gastroenterology is the liver. The liver is incredibly complex and can be very challenging to treat. Though the liver is my primary interest, pretty much everything else in GI is a close second. I enjoy treating inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis), eosinophilic esophagitis, GERD, and many other chronic GI conditions.

What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?

After spending 15 years in the U.S. Navy, my family and I are grateful to be back home in Texas. We enjoy just being in the company of family and friends. Our primary activities tend to center around our church family. We enjoy attending church events, serving our community, and spending time in fellowship with good friends. You can also find us commonly in a swimming pool or around any water activity.

Do you fluently speak any other languages in addition to English?

Spanish

As always EXCELLENT care!

Never had a bad experience at TDDC! My entire family goes here, and we’ve been patients here for decades. We saw Dr. Stephen Lacey while he was practicing, and were always happy with him. Now, we see his son, and are just as happy! My singular complaint is how long it takes to get in, but unfortunately that’s part of having a wonderful doctor!

The staff at Lone Star Endoscopy is top notch, from check in to recovery. Dr Lacey was friendly, professional, and skilled.
