About Amit P. Desai, M.D.
Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?
Gastroenterology is an exciting field with a wide spectrum of acute and chronic diseases. I chose the field because we as gastroenterologists can truly help patients who suffer from these diseases. The field focuses on many organs and encompasses a broad variety of diseases as they relate to the abdomen and GI tract – from the stomach, liver, pancreas, and gallbladder to the small intestine and colon. The breadth of medical issues within this specialty allows us as gastroenterologists to develop comprehensive yet focused care for our patients.
Do you have a specialty of interest within GI?
I have developed an interest in all aspects of GI and liver diseases. I have an additional year of focused, subspecialty training in interventional/therapeutic endoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound, ERCP, enteral stenting and the management of complex intestinal, colonic, pancreatic or biliary diseases.

Thank you so much for the staff and Dr. Disei. I made it to my appointment, but the staff sent me a text with your old address down the road. I am glad you still saw me. Thanks Kevin
Dr. Desai helped figure out the root cause of the chronic stomach pain I’d been dealing with for years and provided treatment such that it got better
Dr. Desai is a very thoughtful and patient doctor. He ensures that he will answer all of your questions and has a very good approach. The best bedside manner I have ever experienced.
Great Doctor! My only concern is that you can’t hardly get to a point in the auto messaging to speak to a live person. WAY to automated from my point of view.
Dr Desai was very thorough and extremely caring. I wasn't expecting a personal follow up call, but he was caring enough to do so
