Dr. Piesman has been my gastroenterologist for many years, and I am always very pleased with my experiences here, including both endoscopies and colonoscopies. This recent experience was, essentially, just as good. However, this time I was definitely NOT pleased with the front desk. The young lady who was manning it truly acted as though it was a real inconvenience to check people in…and not just me. This was so notable because I had never experienced this kind of attitude here before. The thing I liked the best was that he respected my thoughts on my health, even if he may not have agreed. My only complaint was that I felt rushed in my initial appointment and forgot a few other things I wanted to tell him. "This is my second routine colonoscopy and I had a previous upper GI procedure performed by Dr Piesman and Gastroenterology Consultants. All my experiences have been exemplary, from the reception desk through discharge from the Recovery Room. Everyone was efficient, courteous and professional. The current procedure involved Dr. Piesman, a CRNA and a gastroenterology technician. They all were professional and made me feel very comfortable . Dr Piesman spoke to me before the procedure. I don’t remember anything after being anesthetized. Dr Piesman spoke to me and my wife in the Recovery area just before being discharged. He was very thorough and explained what the procedure revealed. In my case the exam was normal. Dr Piesman and his staff were excellent and they provided excellent care. I would highly recommend him and Gastroenterology Consultants."

"Fantastic doctor! He is so professional, caring, and kind but unfortunately, some of the front desk staff is severely lacking! The lady at the front desk checking patients in,I believe her name tag said Alexandria S (heavyset brunette lady, maybe early-mid 40s) on Tuesday 3/19/24, has an incredibly flat affect and horrible tone when greeting and interacting with paying patients! She acted like she was doing all of us there a grand favor by checking us in. I get she might have been having a tough day (it is the medical field) but come on. Office management please address this ASAP! If your doctors weren’t so amazingly wonderful I would switch practices immediately! I receive warmer treatment from the teenagers working at Chick-fil-A! This really makes your entire group/practice look bad because she is the face of it. UNBELIEVABLE!"
"I want to thank Dr. Piesman and his staff for their professionalism and commitment to making sure I was in good hands. I was a bit nervous having a colonoscopy and an endoscopy, to remove a stent in my bile duct I had for close to two years. Recently, in Dec. 2024 I had an emergency removal of two massive hernias which were blocking my intestines. So yes I was a bit nervous. My fears were quickly dismissed with Dr. Piesman and his wonderful team. Thank you Lord Jesus for these Doctors and Nurses. The back staff provided excellent service, excellent treatment, creating a very pleasant environment. The anesthesiologist got the job done I don't remember much after her. "When I first arrived I signed in and receptionist was on phone. I sat and watched others walk in and be greeted and handed the form to fill out. I still hadn't been called up so I went up and was told she lost my sign up slip and gave me my paperwork. Once I got my paperwork done I was called to the back and was asked questions and was told to put my gown on and wait til I was taken back for procedure. 1 hour after I was scheduled for my procedure, I was taken back. Everyone was very nice and helpful, explained what they were going to do and I felt comfortable and being taken care of. Really the only down side is I don't like being told to be there 30 min before my appt, being overlooked and then waiting over an hour to get the procedure done. I would have appreciated being told if there's a problem with their schedule and not just overlooked as far as my time."
"Dr. Piesman is great. Wished the initial staff were more understanding. I made sure to take my 2nd dose at the correct time (4:15am) and of course my body stayed awake up to appt time +. I was handed paperwork to complete. I was lucky to focus on anything but I did it. So I go sit down to hurry up and wait, sleep deprived & irritable. Finally get called back by a mispronounciation of my name. She takes my weight and asked me every question from my paperwork while she is holding it in her hand! It did not phase her. After being released from her it was such a nice difference all the way."
"The prep for this procedure is awful. The stuff you have to force down you to clear out your system tastes disgusting .. nearly vomited it all back up it was that bad. After that, the procedure was a breeze in comparison. Wish more info had been given to me about the effect of the anesthetic and the things to avoid doing after it. Dr Piesman was great."

This confirmed in my mind that Dr. Piesman cares about his patients. Upon meeting him, he was very personable. His confidence and honest demeanor put me at ease in the face of my health issue. I believe him to be trustworthy. He personally called me to discuss lab findings and to reassure me we would discuss a treatment after my upcoming procedure. There was a slight hiccup with getting my benefits loaded in the system (billing department), but that was quickly resolved and a slight hiccup where all my lab orders were not transmitted over to Quest which delayed my blood draw about 10 minutes, but that was also resolved fairly quickly. "Can't say enough about the extreme caring and professionalism of Dr Piesman and the entire staff at Gastroenterology Consultants of SA. A colonoscopy is vitally important and should not be put off. Of the ones I've had in the past this was the most stress free. Dr. Piesman and all the techs put you at ease. They explain the process and make sure you have no questions before starting. Once in recovery Dr Piesman will go over the results, ask if you have questions, and hand you a copy of the procedure and results. Will definitely be back and highly recommend Dr Piesman for your procedure. Even the moviprep mixture is easier than in the past. One suggestion I found is using a straw to drink the prep really helps."

"Nothing frightens me more than entering a medical experience, I know nothing about. That's how I felt when I learned I had to have a colonoscopy done. Arriving at Dr. Piesman's office left me speechless, what a fine ordered establishment they have. You have a choice of anesthesia you want, you go in to the exam room and you take a nap. I woke up in the dressing room feeling refreshed with no side effects of any kind. Reading my diagnosis taught me several important lessons: Diverticular disease is a very common disease that affects 75% population and usually has no symptoms until there is a problem. I know many people who have Diverticular disease, did not get it treated and when it became painful, surgery had to preformed, resulting in removing parts of your intestines and having a colostomy bag. My advice, go get the colonoscopy as a wellness procedure, most insurance companies cover it. If the procedure is medical, than this is more important for you, something was found!! I thank Dr. Piesman and his excellent teammates for the important, preventive work they do every day. I will not be doubting anymore, in fact I am so thankful and relieved I moved forward in my journey of continuing my preventive health."

"So I'm not the review leaving type but because of how impressed I have been with Dr Piesman, since I have been seeing him for around 4 years now, I am making an exception. First of all, he and the folks there at GCofSA, have the most efficient, and expeditious system from the time of scheduling, all the way through until discharge after the procedure. I have had 5 endoscopes over the past 4 years and I am continually amazed by how fast they are. There is no sitting around waiting forever upon arrival which seems to be the norm at other outfits. I never feel like I am being rushed or care is neglected however, these folks just have their act together. The atmosphere there is so relaxed, and friendly. They certainly make the experience as stress free as possible. Dr Piesman, happens to be highly regarded with issues pertaining to the esophagus, which is the issue I deal with. I was sent to him by a former Dr for a radio frequency ablation treatment, and was so impressed with him and after learning of his expertise with regards to esophageal issues (from his bio) promptly switched Doctors. Not only is his expertise of the highest caliber, as an added bonus he's pleasant to deal with, very easy and genuinely personable guy. In all my dealings with him he communicates really promptly, and in an easily understandable way. I am not a huge fan the medical profession in general, however we do need them and imo if you need to go to a GI, Piesman, and the folks GCof SA are the only ones I'm going to."

"I recently had my third colonoscopy. The last two were attended to by Dr. Michael Piesman, MD, Gastroenterology. You will not meet a another physician that enjoys his work like Dr. Piesman. The procedure went off without a hitch. As I was talking with the anesthesiologist, she put me to sleep - forty minutes later I woke upon my bed - a warm bed - and every body was around me. The Doctor noted there were no problems (if there had been he would tell you). Some material was sniped and sent off for evaluation and 10 days later you get the same results as those that the Doctor received. The only issue I had through the whole process was the clearing of the intestines - hold your nose while you drink the fluid."
