"I had a very positive experience when I had my last colonscopy. I was really dreading the prep. I had a lot of trouble swallowing the large amount of fluid, vomiting the whole time. This time I was offered pills and water which was so much better! I highly recommend this process for anyone who has a problem with the other preps! Dr. Guil and the pre op nurses made me feel at ease during this embarrassing process."

"Dr. Guirl and his tech and nursing team are wonderful! A colonoscopy isn’t a comfortable procedure; anesthesia is usually in order, and one has a LOT of unpleasant prep to do before the test even starts. In my case, my ride had another emergency, so I was faced with the choice of doing all that prep AGAIN, or doing the procedure without anesthesia. I chose to go ahead and do it. I was scared to death, and feeling very alone. The folks there were so nice to me, and helped me through it every step of the way. Dr. Guirl was great too, encouraging me and explaining everything he did so as to help me through the procedure. I cannot say I recommend going without the drugs, but I got through it ONLY because of Dr. Guirl and his compassionate team. I recommend him highly and am so thankful I decided to go ahead with the test!"

"If you've never been to Gastrology Consultants of San Antonio, you might want to read my review. Dr. Guirl has always been a good listener. he has always taken good care of my GI issues/problems. I've been a patient of Dr. Guirls' for 11 years. The staff there is courteous and professional. They treat their patients with kindness and dignity from check to check out. The pre-authorization department is great with assisting any of your concerns about insurance coverage. They've grown substantially in the last 6 years. I've also seen another physician for another finding after thoroughly reading my diagnostics. P.A. Rena Patel is considerate and is a good listener as well. She's thuroufh as well and will not disappoint. My 5 star rating is genuine. Just remember you must follow their advice because it's accurate advice. You can trust that you will be in good hands with any of the physicians at GACoSA. It's worth the 1 1/2 hour drive for me, because they are that great with GI problems and diagnostics. "During my recent visit I was amazed by the new building, clean and welcoming , friendly receptionists, prompt and excellent service. As for, Doc Guirl such a young knowledgeable doctor. He diagnosed me with clear , precise results. We are from Laredo but prefer to travel to sna. Kudos to staff , medical assistants and doc Guirl. Doc makes me feels at ease, and I have a lot faith on him. He does not sugar coat results and works with patients. He is caring doctor and wants the best for his patients. Noteworthy my appointment was 900am and we were out in 30 min max"

"I fell ill November 6th and started to decline pretty rapidly to the point that I was no longer eating and could hardly swallow even water. I was in significant pain and just wanted to get back to being able to take care of my children. Dr. Guirl took my situation seriously and got me in quickly for an endoscopy to figure out what was going on. I am so grateful to him and believe he’s such a God send. He even visited me once I was admitted to the hospital. I was such an anxious wreck but he put my mind to ease that I was going to be okay. His staff is just as amazing as they checked on me almost every day and answered any questions I had. I still have a little ways to go as a few health problems kind of hit at once, but thanks to great doctors like Guirl, I have hope that this will all get better soon! I cannot recommend him enough."

"Arrived before a 1 PM appt and was attended to almost immediately. All screeners were prompt, polite, knowledgeable and efficient & completed their jobs by 1:45. The only thing I would have changed was my procedure was scheduled for 2 PM but I was all alone until I was wheeled back at 2:20 PM, a wasted 30+ minutes I could have spent with my wife stranded in the waiting room who could have been invited to my side. The procedure went without incident & Dr Guirl was there to offer a full explanation of the results. Very Professional & excellent experience overall!"

"Dr Guirl performed an endoscopy and colonoscopy for me a year ago and I was pleased with the way he handled everything, including some less than ideal findings. I just returned for my one year colonoscopy. After doing much research I decided to do it without anesthesia this time. There was some brief discomfort a couple times but it went very well and Dr Guirl explained the process as we watched the scope on the monitor. I would definitely do it again without getting knocked out next time. BTW, i moved out of San Antonio since my first procedure but after looking around for a more convenient Dr and reading reviews and credentials of various doctors, I decided the trip back to San Antonio to see Dr Guirl was worth it. The events leading up the procedure went very quickly and efficiently. My problem was I woke up from the procedure with a majorly chipped front tooth and no one could tell me what happened. When I told Dr Guirl right after I woke up he looked at me condescendingly and never answered my question. I was still drugged and didn’t pursue it at that time. When I called the next work day there was nothing in my records and no one could explain. I will need to have this done again and it makes me apprehensive to go under again and not know what is being done to me."

This left me with some unanswered questions and I found myself searching on the internet in a effort to understand the diagnosis of diverticulosis, which is not where I want to be. All and all, it was a good experience and I would go back to the same group. Doc's tend to be less than great communicators, and when one finds themself in the system, patients in America must have tolerance for these types of situations."
