"Colonosopy time. YIKES!!! However it helps when you find a medical group that makes it so easy to get prepared for it. From the receptionist at the front desk, who by the way for some reason was holding down the busy front desk by herself, (and doing it like a Boss), to the assistant who pre interviewed me and took vitals to my new doctor, Dr Garza they all contributed to me relaxing and calming down enough to learn the process I will be going through. I went away prepared with understanding and new knowledge as to what I will be going to experience but now I am sure I will be okay. I very quickly felt confident I was in good hands. I highly recommend this group when it is your turn to have your Colonosopy. By the way if you are over 40 or have a family history of colon cancer go get check. I assure you, Dr. Garza could be your best bet for that. Trust me on this one. Now go make an appointment."

"Of course no one likes to get a colonoscopy. The thought of it is like yuck. But, when our son at almost 51 was diagnosed with colorectal cancer, he had a huge tumor in his colon, I immediately decided that I’d better get this procedure taken care of. Dr Mario Garza is my go to doctor for this. I took the pills, nothing exceptionally uncomfortable about that. It has to be done so the doc can get the view he needs. The outpatient visit went smoothly and I was in and out in a short amount of time. Thankfully I had no polyps so I’m good for another five years. I will continue to use Dr Garza as my go to doctor for colonoscopies. I highly advise you that if you are 45 years or older that every five years you get this done. It’s not nearly as bad as the thought or the idea of it seems. It just may save your life."

Before I knew it, I was on my way home. My only regret was that I had some concern about the results, but I was too influenced by the anesthesia to talk about it at the time. I have been meaning to send a message on the portal, but so far, I haven't."
"Dr. Garza went above and beyond! I ended up in the ER with abdominal pain which resulted in an abnormal CT scan. I called Dr. Garza's office first the next morning and his staff did everything they could to get me an appointment as soon as possible. I was able to come in for an appointment a couple of days later and was immediately scheduled for another procedure that was necessary for him to make a proper diagnosis. His office staff is FANTASTIC! they will schedule and re-schedule your appointments. The OR Staff is also fantastic. They understand that being in my position has raised my anxiety level over the top. They made sure I was comfortable and then they are waking me up. I will see him again in 3 years Lord Willing. "The appointment was made way in advance, which was all right with me. I didn't look forward to the prep part at all, but when it came to it, it wasn't so bad. There were lots of instructions but I took them one at a time, day by day and lost a few pound or two. Upon arrival, dropped off by a best friend, check-in went smoothly. As i proceeded to waiting at intake, listening as those ahead of me were called I became oriented to how to proceed. When I was finally in a curtained space the wait there was brief. When the anesthesiologist came and began to look for a vein I realized it was not going to be the gas version I imagined it would be. As she found a vein on the back of my hand she said this might burn a bit as I introduce the fluid. I felt it and I replied to her, "that does burn a bit..." Next thing I was aware of Dr Garza was by my said saying I had a very clean colon, no polyps, and pointed out "a few diverticuli" (some white spots). He said I probably wouldn't have to do this again. I went to wait for my ride, only slightly groggy, and that was that. VERY PROFESSIONAL ALL THE WAY THROUGH. EVERY STAFF PERSON I ENCOUNTERED WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND COMPASSIONATE."

"In scheduling my colonoscopy procedure, I was so impressed in the follow-up and organization of Dr. Garza's staff in making sure all issues and insurance requirements were covered. Dr. Garza did a colonoscopy 4 years ago for my wife and found a cancerous tumor on her appendix. "Going to see a doctor for anything is not something I do. But having had Shingles on my face at the end the summer of 2020 required a doctor visit. The Shingles went well with no real pain or after effects. My doctor thought at 65 that I was way past due for a colonoscopy. Because I never had the procedure done . So I agreed to have the colonoscopy done . He recommended Gastroenterology. I did not have a preference on doctors. So they made the decision the assign me Dr. Garza. He was very detailed in what I could expect before, during and after the procedure. I was especially pleased with his comments after the procedure. He did say before the procedure that if a polyp was found in the colon that they would remove it. So there is no during the procedure. You are completely asleep and feel nothing. And after the procedure Dr. Garza informed me that they did find a polyp of which they removed and sent off for testing. He also informed me that I did have also Diverticulosis. That's when you have pits and or folds in your colon wall that can have seed or nuts trapped in those crevices. Those can cause pain and can become inflamed. Dr. Garza had photos of this problem and of the polyp before it was removed. I asked him what causes these types of problems. And he told me that they can be inherited from your parents. My father did also have polyps and Diverticulosis in his late 40's and his dad had the same. So after reading Dr. Garza's information that I was given after the procedure and because the colon problems where in my family history, I should of had the colonoscopy done at age 40. Fortunately for me the test came back negative on the polyp for colon cancer. Next for me is to have another colonoscopy done in ten years and stop my intake in my diet of seeds and nuts to keep the Diverticulosis from becoming a problem. All valuable information for my future health. I am so thankful for Dr. Garza and his professionalism and expertise. So with my experience I completely recommend Gastroenterology and Dr. Garza as your doctor of choice."

"I saw Dr. Garza at the Stone Oak facility. This was my 3rd colonoscopy in 10 years; the previous two with different doctors at Methodist. This was by far my best experience. All the medical and check in staff were polite and friendly, and I felt I was treated with respect. I only saw Dr Garza briefly before and after the procedure, but felt he had a caring attitude. I had no problems after the procedure. I had one of the first appointments of the morning and was seen on time and was out much earlier than expected. My only comment on the facility was that there is no coffee (for the person waiting for you) available; my spouse was told to go to Krispy Kreme nearby if he wanted some. Other than that, the waiting areas was the roomiest and nicest we've seen, which makes a difference when you might be waiting a couple of hours."
