"Coming from someone who has had more than her fair share of doctors, Dr. Cunningham is by far one of the best! I was coming from South La. and needed a new gastro Dr. I have suffered with severe UC and have had essentially everything removed. I was lucky enough to have a jpouch after my ostomy was reversed, but was in the middle of a flare up when I was looking for a new Dr. I chose Dr. Cunningham because he had good reviews and was close to home. I was not disappointed. He spent as much time as I needed him to in order to go over my entire file. He took notes, asked questions, and was legitimately interested in me and my case. He was able to prescribe me some meds to get my flare up under control, but what he did next really sealed the deal for me. When I was in La. I was told that I needed to have a "maintenance" scope done yearly in order to make sure my pouch was operating correctly. During my appointment with Dr. Cunningham, I asked him when he would like to schedule my scope. He looked at me puzzled and asked what scope? I said my yearly scope. He said, I don't know what you have been told in the past, or why those doctors felt that need, but you do not have to have a scope done every year. In fact, unless you are having issues, there is no reason to scope the jpouch. I was shocked! This doctor could have easily taken my ignorance, and made a lot of money, he didn't! He told the truth because it's what's best for the patient! I cannot recommend Dr. Cunningham enough. I am truly grateful I became his patient."

"It was time for my first colonoscopy. I heard they aren't pleasant but necessary to ensure good health. Dr Cunningham's office was great. "Dr Cunningham performed a colonoscopy and an esophagus stretch on me earlier this week. Prior to this, my husband and I met with him in his office so that he could go over what to expect. Dr. Cunningham listened to me and answered our questions and addressed our concerns. It is always a pleasure to find a Doctor who listens to the patient. Once the procedures were done and I was in recovery, Dr Cunningham told me what he had done and then visited with my husband to update him. "To be honest I hardly have gone to see doctors in my life time but have seen enough for myself and family members and I can say one thing about Dr. Cunningham. He is a true professional in his field. A professional meaning to care about what he does. He greets you to get to know you, ask all sorts of questions that will help him to know what will be his plan of action to help you heal or get better. He's straight forward and like i said he listens to you because before he prescribes any one medication he talks to you and ask what medications you taken before and how did you react to them so he doens't prescribe something that didn't work before on you. "My procedure was uneventful in the most candid way. The prep was the worse part of it but because I followed the instructions to a tee…the procedure went perfectly (easy to see what needed to be seen). I started the liquid meds at 5pm the night before, by 6:30pm I was on the pot constantly for about a 1.5 hours. I was able to sleep until my next dose at 2am and it was similar - I was on the pot in less than an hour this time and was freed from the toilet chain by 5am for the hour drive to the office for the procedure. They have a nice restroom and their office was open 30 min before my arrival which was perfect for my bathroom needs. My procedure was scheduled for 7am. Anyway, I shared all that because that was the worst part (which was all normal) of the colonoscopy. They put you in a ward-like room with curtain partitions in a gown (I was able to leave my bra and socks on-it was cold). I received an IV. They asked a bunch of questions, I answered and shared I was very nervous because it was my time to be put “under”-they said no worries, it’s a really only a light sleep, nothing more. I have low BP and I was afraid of not waking up. They wheeled me into the procedure room. I met Dr. Cunningham and his 2 side kicks (sorry I don’t remember their names or titles but one was a nurse who administered the sleep meds and one was dressed like Dr. Cunningham and seemed to begin prepping). Dr. Cunningham introduced himself and explained what was going to happen and what they would be looking for. The nurse told me to lay on my left side and explained the meds and administered it through my IV. She didn’t tell me to do this but I started counting back from 100… I think I remember 93, maybe it was only 96. I woke as I was being wheeled into the recovery ward. They were asking me to wake up and wanted to know if I wanted apple juice or water. After what seemed to be about 20min Dr.Cunningham came to my bed and explained everything went well and asked how I was feeling. I got dressed and they walked me to the back door where my husband grabbed my arm and walked me to the car, I think it was about 8:30am by then. I slept for the hour drive home. When I got home I slept for another 4 hours. I felt 100% (but a little drained) by 2pm the same day. I don’t have to go back for another 10 years but I will go to Dr. Cunningham again and I highly recommend him and his staff."

Appointment was for 08:50, we arrived at 08:00 and registered in about 10 minutes. The R.N., Lorraine, took me in to review general information and then to Rosie, who set up a shunt for the I.V.,, stored my clothes and covered any additional questions or concerns. From the start everything was very organized and professionally managed. The staff will put you to ease and make you feel that they are there to serve and support your needs. This was a great relief since my anxiety level during the previous 22 hours was not enjoyable or pleasent. Once inside the treatment area, I received the same clear, concise communication from my physician and the staff. Recovery and discharge was quickly completed and we were on our way at 09:30. Communication prior to the procedure is to contact you as a reminder of the preparation required, etc. and any questions that arise are can be addressed by a call to the office."
