"over the past 30 years i have had numerous gastroenterologists due to various job-related moves throughout the country. Dr. Spearman is the most accessible and most responsive. Darren Spearman, M.D. was reccommended to me by my PCP during a visit, where i had expressed frustration over getting someone on the phone with my previous gastro physician, whether for an appointment or any other reason. i always had to wait for a call back. My experience with GC of SA was very different. Someone always answers the phone and directs your call accordingly. Probably the most impressive thing about Dr. Spearman, aside from being a fine physician, is that he does not rush patients through office visits to move on to the next patient. He takes as much time as necessary to go over any and all questions / concerns, and does so in a very casual, conversational manner, unlike some physicians who can be condescending. He is also a really nice person"

"In all my years of getting medical attention around the country, Dr. Spearman has to be in the top three experiences. He spends time to listen to me and what is going on in my body. He doesn't just jump to conclusions on what is wrong. He also educates you, in terms you can understand. You feel involved in your care choices instead of dictated to. Now you add in the support staff at the practice and it is tied for first place as the best medical experience I have had in my 66 years. The nurses, technicians and administrative staff are all top notch. I wish the rest of the medical profession was anywhere near this good. BTW: I hardly ever give a 5 star review for anything. I grade hard."

I was scratch for the next week and was emailed all the preparation information. The doctor's office sent the prescription to my preferred pharmacy and all went smoothly. The morning of my exam the staff, from front desk to nurses were professional and answered all questions. Post procedure, I met with Dr. Spearman again and he went over the findings. I was given very helpful handouts along with a printed copy of my results. I highly recommend this doctor and his wonderful staff!"

"I had a procedure to view a hiatal hernia this morning. The experience was as pleasant as it could be. The staff was pleasant, friendly, and efficient. Dr. Spearman performed the procedure quickly and precisely. My only complaint is that the facility is quite chilly, but this is common in medical facilities. I dressed fairly warmly, so it wasn't too bad. I was in and out in an hour and a half. Well done!"

He agreed to do an Endoscopy with me and that hasn't happened yet due to his diagnosis of Covid. (I hope he is doing better and feeling well!). The reason why I gave 4 out of 5 stars is because even though it was early in the morning, I felt a little rushed. I had my blood pressure taken before the talk with him and asked for them to do it again which didn't happen. Then when he sent me over to schedule the Endoscopy, I heard him saying that he had 31 patients that day which is a lot of people to take care of. "Dr Spearman has been my GI specialist for several years. My symptoms did not fit into a normal, easy to diagnose box. Every doctor prior to Dr Spearman would just say they were sending me to someone else after running basic tests that lead to no clear answer. He, however, personally returned phone calls, called to speak to me outside of our time scheduled in the office saving me scheduling a visit, spent extra time questioning the previously overlooked details of my health much like an internist would do, while always making me feel like I had known him my whole life, and was honest when he admitted he was not sure what was going on, but he would work until he could find and answer or someone who could. And he did just that. He and his office staff were relentless in a very firm, but kind way, in checking on me, keeping in contact, and reminding me to come back in for my yearly procedures for follow up until I actually came in to do so. I wish Dr Spearman was a PCP because I trust him with my life and it would be comforting to have him caring for me and my family in that capacity with the same ferocity he displayed as a doctor as I felt as a patient in wanting and striving for answers.
