About Sunbal Zafar, M.D.

“My philosophy as a gastroenterologist is to treat the patient as a whole, rather than strictly focusing on their gastroenterology condition.”

After growing up surrounded by physicians, Dr. Zafar was sure very early on that she wanted to pursue a career as a physician. She completed residency training in Internal Medicine at Case Western Reserve University, followed by a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at the University Hospitals of Cleveland. As clinical teaching faculty at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, she served as Assistant Professor and then Dr. Zafar returned to medical training to complete her second fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Case Western Reserve University and served as Chief Fellow as well. Her interests include treatments for numerous conditions like acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, peptic ulcer disease, GI bleeding, screening for colon cancer. She is fully trained to perform upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, hemorrhoid banding, video capsule endoscopy and considers it a privilege to be able to take care of her patients.
