About Nathaniel R. Ranney, M.D.
Dr. Nathan R. Ranney received a bachelor’s of science degree in Biochemistry from Louisiana State University-Baton Rouge and his Doctorate of Medicine from Louisiana State University-New Orleans. After graduation from medical school, he completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in Birmingham, Alabama. He received his board certification in Internal Medicine in 2012. He completed fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, South Carolina. In addition, he received advanced endoscopic training and is proficient in Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR), mucosal ablation, and the treatment of Barrett’s esophagus. He received his board certification in Gastroenterology and Hepatology in 2015. Dr. Ranney is currently a resident of St. Tammany Parish. He is an active staff member of St. Tammany Parish Hospital, Lakeview Regional Medical Center, Slidell Memorial Hospital, and Ochsner-Northshore Hospital. He maintains active membership in the American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterology Association, and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Dr. Ranney enjoys caring for and treating a wide variety of illnesses and diseases related to the gastrointestinal tract. He has taken particular interest in caring for patients with cancer of the GI tract. Through the help of the St Tammany Parish Hospital Cancer Center, he has founded a GI tumor board conference. This is a forum that allows a team of doctors to meet regularly and discuss cancer care of patients in a prospective manner to provide the most up to date and individualized care possible.
