About Clinton Polhamus, M.D.
Born in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, Dr. Polhamus went to Medical School at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas graduating in 1977. He did his Internal Medicine training in the military at Travis Air Force Base and Wright Patterson Medical Center finishing in 1980. He then practiced in the military in Austin and in Wiesbaden, Germany. He came back to Texas and was Chief of Internal Medicine at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio. He then trained in Gastroenterology at Wilford Hall and finished that training in 1992.
At the end of his 20-year career in the United States Air Force he was Chief of Gastroenterology at Wilford Hall Medical Center in charge of the Department of Gastroenterology. In addition, he was the Program Director of Training in Gastroenterology and Consultant to the Air Force Surgeon General.
After he retired from the military, he joined a private practice in the Salem/Roanoke Virginia area for 7 years and then came back to San Antonio and joined San Antonio Digestive Disease Consultants. He has been practicing with them now for the last 14 years. His main hospital affiliation is with Northeast Methodist but also uses Northeast Baptist.
His hobbies include music and military history – especially World War II because his father served in the Pacific Theatre.
