About Raymond Vallera, M.D.
Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?
I chose Gastroenterology so that I could focus on a single specialty and its associated problems and diseases. Gastroenterology also allows me to enjoy a range of procedures, and yet have the personal interaction with patients in the clinic and hospital settings.
Do you have a specialty of interest within GI?
I have a particular interest in preventative medicine with an emphasis on screening colonoscopies.
Where did you study?
Undergrad: University of Notre Dame, Internship and Residency: University of Connecticut, Fellowship in Gastroenterology: Duke University Medical Center.
What certifications do you hold?
Board Certified in Gastroenterology.
What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?
My wife, Raphaelle, and I love to work in our garden. We also enjoy traveling with our children and, in particular, visiting with her family in France. I take in an occasional round of golf and, of course, love Notre Dame Football.
Do you have any special honors or recognitions in your medical career that you would like to share?
I recently completed the Executive Physician Leadership Course at the SMU Cox School of Business. Throughout my career I have authored several publications, abstracts and poster presentations.
Please list your professional affiliations.
American College of Gastroenterology and Texas Society for Gastroenterology and Endoscopy.

Reviews
Very caring and personable doctor. Listens to your history and story thoroughly to get to the bottom of the issue. Educates you on the issue and answers your questions. I've had doctors in the past tell me what to do rather than listen and give me answers that I need to resolve or manage my issues. Dr. Vallera didn't tell me what to do he gave me an answer to help manage my illness.
Very thorough and knowledgeable. A caring and compassionate person/doctor.
Really listens to what you have to say Very kind person
Dr Vallera is courteous, professional, focused and analytical. I appreciate that he makes me a part of his decision-making process. Very positive experiences.
I had a wonderful experience with doctor Vallera and his team. Checking in for my appointment was very pleasant, the way I was greeted when I walked in instantly puts my mind at ease. The procedure itself, despite my fears going in dissipates as soon as I hear the ACDC playing in the background. Waking up in the recovery room I felt like I was just about to start, had no idea it was over. Great team, great location..
