About Michael D'Astice, M.D.

Dr. Michael D’Astice has been in practice for over 18 years.A facination with science and a high school job at a hospital initially fueled his interest in medicine.  After obtaing a degree in chemistry at Loyola University of Chicago, he enrolled in Loyola Stritch School of Medicine to obtain his medical degree. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Gastroenterology at Loyola Medical Center.

Even though his time is split between seeing patients at GI Associates, teaching residents at Advocate Christ Hospital, and serving on various administrative committees at Little Company of Mary Hospital, Dr. D’Astice’s primary focus is still on his patients. “I like making a difference in people’s lives,” he says, “Their well-being is my ultimate goal.” He believes that always listening to his patients is one of the most important aspects of being a physician.

Dr. D’Astice serves as the Director of Endoscopy at Little Company of Mary Hospital, and was part of building the new GI endoscopy facility there. Now, he deals with the administrative aspects of the facility, as well as serving on the Quality Assurance Committee at Advocate Christ Medical Center Procedure Center to ensure the continuing quality of gastroenterology care at both hospitals. He is also the current Medical Staff President at Little Company of Mary Hospital

As a gastroenterologist, Dr. D’Astice specializes in general gastroenterology, biliary disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, and has a special interest in GI nutrition, including enteral and parenteral nutritional support.  He is board certified in both Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine.  He participates in community outreach programs at Little Company of Mary Hospital, and  gives lectures out in the community about common issues such as colon cancer screening and acid reflux.
